Learn the basic first aid knowledge and skills to help you respond in an incident or emergency until medical assistance arrives.

Target Audience:

This course is for those who are supporting people in the community or who have either never done a First Aid course or for anyone whose certificate is about to expire. This course suits the requirements for First Aid within various industries. Please note that if you work in a child care environment or an education/care setting this may not be the correct course for you.

Learning Outcomes:

  • On successful completion of this course, students will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.
  • The units issued on successful completion include - Units of Competency: HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and HLTAID011 Provide first aid.,

Learning Methods:

Session 1. Online learning and assessment (up to 6 hours to complete)

The online learning component allows you the flexibility, time, and space to learn and complete important theory assessments at your own pace, when and wherever you want! The actual duration of this component will vary depending on your experience and knowledge. 

You will need access to a computer and the internet to complete this part of your course. Mobile phones are not recommended due to the small screen size.

You will be required to complete your Online Theory Assessments prior to attending your face to face practical workshop. If you have not been able to complete your online assessments prior to your face-to-face Workshop Booking you will have to reschedule this Practical Workshop to a later date.


Session 2. Face to face practical session (around 6 hours)

Our face-to-face practical session gives you the opportunity to apply the knowledge you have learned and develop the hands-on skills, practice them, receive trainer feedback and then complete assessment tasks based on first aid or emergency scenarios.


Upon successful completion students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for

Units of Competency:
HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID011 Provide first aid

  • The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course includes the most up-to-date basic life support principles including:
  • CPR and defibrillation for adults and infants
  • Breathing problems and emergencies including Asthma and Anaphylaxis or severe allergic reaction and choking
  • Fractures, Dislocations, Sprains and Strains
  • Non life threatening and life threatening bleeding
  • Head, Neck and Spinal Injuries
  • Diabetes and Drowning
  • Burns
  • Envenomation and poisoning
  • First aid legalities and workplace first aid
  • Eye injuries
  • Hypothermia and Hyperthermia
  • Seizures, shock, stroke and sharps injuries
  • Cardiac conditions including chest pain
  • Minor wounds and nosebleeds
